Judy Sue Goodwin Sturges is a former art director and a longtime professor of illustration at her alma matter, Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). Judy Sue and her late husband, architect turned children’s author Philemon Sturges, spent several years in Rome while Judy Sue was serving as Chief Critic of RISD’s European Honors Program. Over the years, Judy Sue has nurtured the careers of many children's book illustrators, designers, and art directors, and she is an author herself; Construction Kitties, illustrated by Shari Halpern, is a preschool favorite. Judy Sue enjoys cooking, Spinone dogs, and… anything Italian really.

April Jones Prince is a writer and editor who worked at William Morrow and HarperCollins Children's Books after graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill and the Radcliffe Publishing Course. Her move to New England and love of children's literature brought her to the Studio in 2002. April is the author of numerous trade books, including Twenty-One Elephants and Still Standing, illustrated by Francois Roca. She loves Judy Sue’s cooking and food in general… good thing she also likes to run and to explore new cities on foot.

Sara K. Dunn joined the Studio after graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2017. Her love of art, nature, and stories naturally led her into the realm of children's books. She is working on her own picture books in addition to nurturing and helping others grow. She also paints commissions and illustrates and designs product labels, window displays, and greeting cards. She enjoys cooking, gardening, and collecting... anything shiny or special.
